Effective January 1,2023, all full-time employees of GMHCN eligible to receive benefits will receive 35 Paid Time Off days to use at their discretion with the support of their colleagues throughout the year. Peer Mentor-Georgia Regional Hospital (Atlanta)

ATLANTA - Peer Mentor The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN), a recovery-oriented mental health peer support, advocacy, and education organization, is seeking a Peer Mentor. This position is responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges and/or substance use challenges as they transition from an inpatient hospital settings into the community of their choice. Peer mentors use their lived experience to provide hope and encouragement, and to help individuals develop the skills and resources they need to succeed in the community. Peer Mentors work in the capacity that everyone with a mental health challenge and/or substance use diagnosis have the ability to recover and live a person-centered life of their choice. We support peers in identifying their goals and the steps necessary to achieve those goals. This is a full-time position which currently requires this role to be working 5 days / week at the Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Executive Assistant / Office Manager

TUCKER - Executive Assistant / Office Manager The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN), a recovery-oriented mental health peer support, advocacy, and education organization, is seeking an Executive Assistant / Office Manager to work at our Tucker, GA Office. We are looking for an individual that can be the administrative support person for the CEO and staff as well as the point person in the office who would coordinate administration duties and office procedures. The role will be to create and maintain a pleasant work environment and ensure effective communications. This is a full-time position with a negotiable salary dependent upon applicant’s skills, talents, and experience. This position is currently requiring 5 days in the office each week. ATLANTA - Certified Peer Specialist Consistent support is a key factor for managing health and wellness. People need accessible, social, and emotional support to manage and maintain good behaviors for health.  Peer support relies on non-hierarchical, reciprocal relationships, which provide a flexible supplement to formal health system services. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. ​ Program Description In partnership with Kaiser Permanente Georgia (KPGA), Mental Health America of Georgia (MHAG) and Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, peer support services will be offered to KPGA members to improve behavioral health outcomes.   In an effort to create a culture of wellness, Certified Peer Support Specialist will be added to KPGA Behavioral Health team to provide enhanced wrap around care.  Certified Peer Specialist Description As an active member of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia (KPGA) Behavioral Health Team, the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) will work from the perspective of their lived experience to help build environments conducive to recovery. The CPS will offer the skills to support KPGA members in developing their recovery goals, and specific steps to reach those goals. Under immediate to general supervision, the CPS will offer intentional peer support to KPGA members.  The CPS will perform a wide range of tasks to support members in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process. A summary of the expected roles and responsibilities are outlined below: Health Education & Coaching Using Whole Health Wellness Coach training the CPS coaches peers in goal-setting as a tool for recovery. Helps provide answers to any questions peers have about their recovery plans. Provides mentoring in self-direct recovery. Advocacy Advocates on behalf of partnered peers to protect the member’s rights and to assist in reducing stigma Provides social support and peer mentoring Assists the partnered peer in increasing social support networks of relatives, friends and/or significant others Supports the partnered peer as requested in their recovery. Care Team Outreach Participates in recovery meetings with other providers as an advocate for the recovery of partnered peers. Community Health Linkage Provides mentoring in the use of personal and community resources Supports in developing formal and informal community supports The CPS will model competency in recovery and wellness. Support members in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness. Support members in articulating the objectives necessary to reach his or her recovery and wellness goals. Utilizing their specific training, the CPS will: Lead as well as model to peers how to facilitate Recovery Dialogues Support peers in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). Utilize and model problem solving techniques with individuals and groups. Mentor peers in techniques for identifying and combating negative self-talk. Mentor peers in techniques for identifying and overcoming fears. Support the vocational choices peers make. Support members in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition and tenure. Role model the value of every individual's recovery experience. Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies. The CPS’s will maintain certification as peer specialist as defined by Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities.  Sustain working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field by reading books, journals and other relevant material. Attend continuing education sessions when offered by the CPS Project. This is an excellent opportunity to assist returning citizens transitioning from a Georgia State Prison, Transitional Center or Day Reporting Center to living self-directed lives of recovery, hope, and purpose in communities of their choice. The Certified Peer Specialist will work closely with a team of other Certified Peer Specialists, under the supervision of the Director to provide 24/7 support at the Center. AUGUSTA - Certified Peer Specialist Part Time The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, a recovery oriented, behavioral health peer advocacy and education organization, is seeking a Georgia Certified Peer Specialist-Mental Health to serve as part-time Certified Peer Specialist for the new Peer Recovery and Respite Center of Augusta, Georgia. ​ A Georgia Certified Peer Specialist-Mental Health (CPS-MH) is a person who has received special training from the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network to use their experience in recovery from a mental health concern to provide peer support to others, to publicly advocate for better access to quality behavioral health supports, and to reduce stigma. Peer support is the foundation of the work of GMHCN and the Peer Recovery and Respite Center of Augusta.
