The Soloist

The Movie

The Soloist is a new film based on the true story of Nathaniel Ayers, a musical prodigy who developed schizophrenia while studying at the prestigious Juilliard School. Jamie Foxx portrays Ayers and Robert Downey Jr. portrays Steve Lopez, a Los Angeles Times columnist who discovers Ayers playing on a battered violin with two strings on Skid Row. Ayers, his sister, and Lopez were consultants during the development of the film. Joining the on-screen cast are approximately 500 people who live on the streets of Los Angeles.
