Fresh Start
Fresh Start is a short-term, crisis-oriented benefit that will provide a one-time assistance payment for needy families to get them caught up on past due shelter and/or utility expenses, or assist them with move-in costs associated with renting a new dwelling. This program is being piloted in the 13 metro Atlanta counties, Augusta and Columbus through partnership with the United Way.so HOLD your horses down Smile .Keep up the great work
The program will be active statewide as of June 7, 2010.
Friends, Educators and others who know families with eligible households that are in danger of eviction or foreclosure, or are unable to pay past due balances on their utility bills, or cannot pay move-in costs associated with renting a new dwelling due to a loss in income or unfortunate economic circumstances, should instruct families to call their local United Way office to apply for the Fresh Start program.
Families in the metro Atlanta counties who need assistance with the Fresh Start program may now contact 211 United Way to apply.
Families in Augusta may also call 211 United Way to apply. However, families in Columbus should call the local office at (706) 327-3255.
United Way agents will determine and document eligibility, and disburse payment to vendors. Families should understand that their qualifications will be determined by United Way .
